CODE 101

All-Day Workshop

This workshop is an introduction to the coding industry for learners with no prior experience. It has been successfully run dozens of times in Seattle, Portland, and NYC with student cohorts as large as 50. It has learners writing HTML and CSS, pair programming, working in teams, and deploying websites on GitHub. It also features lectures about what it's like to work in the industry as a professional. Finally, it serves as a micro-version of a Coding Bootcamp course, so that learners can decide if they want to take more courses and ultimately become web developers.

My Contributions
I designed and developed this workshop along with an Instructor. I created an initial outline and received approval from the client. Following that, I developed a comprehensive Facilitator's Guide, template HTML/CSS files, a packet of handout materials, and a set of Google Slides to run through the whole workshop. The instructor helped me with some of the scripting (i.e., what to say) in the slides and Facilitator's Guide.

Tools Used
Google Docs and Google Slides were used to produce the written documentation and lecture slides. I used Adobe Illustrator to produce the print handouts and used Atom as my Text Editor to code the templates, which I then stored on GitHub.
